As a student at EMU in the Social Work dept., there are MANY people who rely on public transit as their link to a livlihood to sustain themselves and their families. Students rely on the service to get from their apts 4-5 miles away and many elderly utilize the system as a link to grocery shopping and a link to psycho-social activities that would be hard to get to.Taking away the bus service would cripple the area and more and more people would be left defenseless as how to get to and from. We're suppose to be progressing our foot-steps as technology enhances, not neglecting the people who work very hard and sometimes 10 miles from their home. If anything, Ypsi/Ann-Arbor should've had a lite rail system set up years ago to provide residents and students beter accomodations to get around the area. It's a shame that a top university such as U of M wouldn't collaborate with EMU to design and implement a servic like to to model for the entire country. It's sad to see AAATA consider this even though the number of people riding the bus increased over the last 8 years or so. Just a slap in the face and I think it's time for a BETTER CEO for AATA before the whole ship sinks.
